A quick update - Terrestrials!

Posted on February 15, 2010 at 3:41 AM

Its all go at present with cicada hitting in the high country and willow grubbers prevalent in the lowland. Great dry fly action to really kick off our late summer. Oh, and I get married in 3 days!

Stu Tripneys foam willow grubs sure do hit the fish. easy to see and they sit just right on the surface. We are losing a few to the willows as fish freely feed tight against the tangles of branches but persistence pays off here.

In the backcountry we have hit some large trout of late. Cicada are keeping them at the surface and the tried and true Clarks Deer Hair cicada does the job when trout get wary of higher floating patterns.

and congratulations to Al Gay who finally bet his PB in cracking style

And amongst this all I even got amongst it myself for a day

Great fun on the 5wt G2 from Scott.

Keep up with the smiles and successes in my current season album here

Apologies for the short blog, but off to try on the suit and meet the celebrant. Oh, and maybe flick a terrestrial around a local lake this afternoon!

Tight Lines
